Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, expressing satisfaction over the continuous decline in inflation regarding the Consumer Price Index, has said that all institutions are working together to improve the economy, promote business and investment, and it is hoped that inflation will decrease further.
In a statement, he said that the current government is completing its first year, on this occasion this is very good news, it is very welcome that inflation fell to 1.5 percent in February 2025, which is the lowest inflation rate since September 2015.
Shehbaz Sharif said that from July 2024 to February 2025, the average inflation rate was 5.9 percent, while in the same period in the previous fiscal year, this average was 28 percent, which is a significant decrease.
He said that due to the excellent efforts of the government’s economic team, economic indicators are improving with each passing day, continuous improvement in the economy is the result of diligent teamwork.
The Prime Minister said that all institutions are working together to improve the economy, promote business and investment, the benefits of macroeconomic improvement have started reaching the people. Providing essential commodities to the people at affordable prices is the top priority of the government.
In addition, the British High Commissioner Jane Marriott called on the Prime Minister. Shahbaz Sharif expressed his best wishes for King Charles Swim and wished him a complete recovery. He reiterated the invitation to King Charles Swim to visit Pakistan and expressed satisfaction over the progress made in bilateral relations.
The Prime Minister stressed the need for collective efforts to establish lasting peace in Gaza and Ukraine. The British High Commissioner said that his country is committed to strengthening its relations with Pakistan and continuing its partnership with Pakistan.
The Prime Minister has taken notice of the difficulties in gas supply during Sehr and Iftar during the month of Ramadan and has directed immediate steps. The Prime Minister held an emergency meeting late at night in this regard, in which the issues of gas supply during Sehr and Iftar were discussed in detail with the Managing Directors and senior management of Sui companies.
On the instructions of the Prime Minister, the Sui Southern Gas Company has decided to immediately increase the gas pressure by 10 percent. Gas supply will be started 30-45 minutes before Sehr and Iftar times in the areas located at the ends of the gas distribution centers, which will improve the gas pressure in these areas.
The Sui Southern Gas Company has also announced the establishment of control rooms in the head office and regional offices to monitor the gas distribution system, which will review the gas supply situation on a daily basis.
The spokesperson of Sui Northern Gas has said in his issued statement that taking immediate action on the instructions of the Prime Minister, gas supply during Sehr and Iftar times will be ensured at all costs.
In his message on World Wildlife Day, Shahbaz Sharif reiterated his commitment to wildlife conservation and said that the government is working to raise awareness about the importance of biodiversity. Let us work together to improve Pakistan’s beautiful wildlife.
