Hindu extremists demolished the house of an Indian Muslim for shouting ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ slogan during the match between Pakistan and India.
According to local media, the house of a Muslim citizen in the Indian state of Maharashtra was demolished just because he had shouted ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ slogan during the India-Pakistan cricket match.
This incident occurred when a Muslim citizen shouted ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ slogan while watching the India-Pakistan match on TV in his house, on which local Hindu extremists called it anti-India sloganeering and demolished the Muslim citizen’s house.
Hindu extremists accused the Muslim citizen of shouting slogans against India, after which an angry mob demolished his house.
This new incident is another shameful example of the ongoing atrocities against minorities, especially Muslims, in India. Atrocities against all minorities, but especially Muslims, have been ongoing in India for decades, and the wave of anti-Muslim violence and hatred has increased dramatically during the rule of BJP’s puppet Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Under Narendra Modi’s Hindutva policy, Muslims have been specifically targeted in India through the Citizenship Amendment Bill and the National Register of Citizens. Under these laws, Muslims have to prove that they are natural citizens of India, otherwise they are deprived of citizenship.
Similarly, in many states, Muslim women are kidnapped and forced to convert to Hinduism. These incidents are often carried out in the name of “love jihad”, in which Muslim men are also targeted, while the administration, government and police deliberately ignore such incidents.
In India, violence against Muslims has become a common practice even under the guise of cow protection. Muslims are beaten up in public on false charges of beef smuggling, and even several Muslims have been killed by angry mobs.
During the rule of the Hindu extremist party BJP, several campaigns have been launched to boycott the businesses of Muslim traders and shopkeepers to cause economic harm to them. Apart from this, Muslims also face discrimination in government jobs and educational institutions.
With the blessings of the Modi government, historical and religious places of Muslims are also demolished or damaged. The demolition of the Babri Masjid is the biggest example of this, after which many mosques and places have been demolished. Similarly, a campaign to change the names of roads and areas associated with Muslims is also underway in India.
Under the anti-Muslim policies of the Modi government, Muslims have also been divided in order to weaken them politically, with the aim of weakening their voting power.
The atrocities against Muslims in India are not only a violation of their basic human rights, but they are also against international law. The international community should take the atrocities against minorities, especially Muslims, in India seriously and put pressure on India to stop them.
