Karachi: Rumors have started circulating about the resigned ICC Chief Executive Jeff Allardyce, as an audit report has identified irregularities in funds during the T20 World Cup matches in the US.
Meanwhile, the Indian media indulged in “fake news”, linking Allardyce’s resignation to the delay in the completion of Champions Trophy venues in Pakistan.
According to details, International Cricket Council Chief Executive Jeff Allardyce had resigned from his post in the past few days. Some Indian media reports claimed that there were irregularities in the expenses incurred in preparing for the World Cup matches in the US last year, on which ICC board members had expressed reservations and this was also identified in the audit report.
After this World Cup, several key ICC officials resigned, including Head of Events Chris Tetley, General Manager Marketing and Communications Claire Furlong, and Head of Anti-Corruption Alex Marshall. It was not immediately clear whether Allardyce would step down immediately or continue to work until a new CEO was appointed.
Jay Shah said in a statement issued by the ICC that on behalf of the board, I am deeply grateful to Jeff Allardyce for his leadership and contribution as Chief Executive. His hard work has played a significant role in the global development of cricket. We are grateful for his services and wish him well for the future.
On the other hand, the Indian media, experts in “fake news”, linked Jeff Allardyce’s resignation to the Champions Trophy, saying that he did not inform the ICC board about the delay in the preparation of the Rawalpindi and Karachi stadiums, which led to his resignation.
