Bridgetown: The Indian cricket team finally left for home from Barbados, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah had arranged a chartered flight to bring the team back home.
The team was stuck in Bridgetown due to the storm as the airport was closed, Jay Shah arranged for the local journalists who had gone to the West Indies to cover the event to accompany the team back home on a chartered flight.
BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla said on social media that “Finally our team is leaving for home,” another picture showing the World Cup trophy next to the plane was captioned as it is coming home.
The T20 champion Indian cricket team will first meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on their return home.
A special function has been organized today in the honor of the players at the Prime Minister House, this function will last for about 2 hours, after which the players will reach Mumbai by another chartered plane.
From where they will be taken from the airport in an open-top bus to the Wankhede Stadium, where another special function will be organized, where the players will be presented with awards.
Captain Rohit Sharma will present the trophy to BCCI Secretary Jay Shah, it will remain on display at the BCCI headquarters for the next two years.
