Srinagar: 2 Indian policemen were killed and 2 injured in a landmine explosion in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh.
According to Kashmir Media Service, a joint team of Indian paramilitary forces State Task Force, District Reserve Group, Commando Battalion for Resolute Action and Central Reserve Police Force conducted an operation against Naxal insurgents in the troubled state of Chhattisgarh.
While returning after the security operation, the vehicle of the Indian paramilitary force was destroyed in a loud explosion, as a result of which Chief Constable Bharat Lal Sahu and Constable Sattar Singh were killed.
In the blast, Purushottam Nag, Komal Yadav, Siyaram Suri and Sanjay Kumar were seriously injured and shifted to a nearby hospital. The condition of two officials is said to be critical. There is a chance in increase of casualties.
An Indian Army spokesperson said that preliminary investigations suggest that the pipe bomb was hidden underground and that a security personnel’s vehicle may have run over it.
It should be remembered that last month too, two Central Reserve Police officers and an officer of the Commando Battalion for Resolute Action were killed in an IED blast.
