Reiterating Pakistan’s commitment to the goal of a nuclear-weapon-free world, it is important to eliminate nuclear weapons and recognize the legitimate reasons why states acquire them.
These views were expressed by Pakistan’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Usman Jadoon, in a statement given in the discussion of the First Committee on Nuclear Weapons.
He said that major military threats, unresolved conflicts, absence of effective security system and non-implementation of the United Nations Charter are the factors that lead states to nuclear weapons.
He said that India has introduced nuclear weapons in South Asia and refused to give assurances of not conducting nuclear tests, India is not following the UN resolutions regarding Kashmir and aspires to become a permanent member of the Security Council. is
