New Delhi: In view of the worsening situation, India has imposed curfew in the border areas bordering Bangladesh.
The Indian state of Meghalaya has imposed a night curfew in the state along the India-Bangladesh border amid the ongoing situation in Bangladesh after the resignation of Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
According to Indian media, on the advice of the Border Security Force (BSF), a curfew was imposed from 6 pm to 6 am within 200 meters of the border line within Indian territory on the international border with Bangladesh.
Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister Preston Tan Song requested people living along the international border with Bangladesh not to enter the curfew area after 6 pm.
He said that this evening I called for an emergency meeting considering the situation in Bangladesh. We have decided to impose curfew on the international border with Bangladesh from tonight.
The Meghalaya Chief Minister added that the curfew will remain in effect from 6 pm to 6 am every day from zero point inside Indian territory or only 200 meters from the international border pillar till the situation improves.
