London: There was a complete ban on taking photos or videos in polling stations during the early general elections in the United Kingdom.
New constituencies were drawn up in the country due to the registration of new voters before the elections, after which the total number of seats increased by 10 more seats.
After the increase in seats, the total number of parliamentary constituencies in England now stands at 543, while Northern Ireland has 18 seats, Wales and Scotland together.
Seats were reduced, with Wales down to 32 seats and Scotland down to 57 seats.
The Conservative Party government was due to expire in January 2025, but Prime Minister Rishi Sonak called an early election, marking the first time since 1945 that a general election has been held in July.
