Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Central Secretary for Information Sheikh Waqas Akram has claimed that former Prime Minister Imran Khan never relied on foreign interference for a deal like his political rivals.
Sheikh Qas Akram, referring to President Asif Zardari and former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, said that they had made ‘agreements’ in the past to avoid imprisonment and leave the country.
The PTI leader, responding to allegations made by Defense Minister Khawaja Asif and Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, said that both leaders were making statements against Imran Khan to gain attention and media coverage.
It may be recalled that both leaders had called Imran Khan an ‘asset of Israel’ and said that foreign powers were targeting Pakistan’s nuclear and missile programs under the guise of supporting Imran Khan.
Sheikh Waqas Akram said that Imran Khan had consistently opposed foreign conspiracies and interference.
Addressing Khawaja Asif, he said that in the past he used to call the founder of PTI ‘Taliban Khan’ and then started calling him an ‘Israeli asset’.
He said that the PML-N used to call Imran Khan an ‘army project’ and now by calling Imran Khan an Israeli asset, are you trying to accuse the Pakistani army of supporting PTI at the behest of Israel?
The PTI Information Secretary claimed that despite holding the important post of Defense Minister, Khawaja Asif repeatedly made statements that embarrassed Pakistan internationally.
He called the PPP chairman an ‘angry political child’ and warned him to refrain from criticizing Imran Khan.
He said that Asif Zardari has a history of using his politically immature young son to pressure the PML-N so that the Sharif family can be targeted in negotiations.
When asked about the alliance between the Pakistan Peoples Party and the Muslim League (N), Sheikh Waqas Akram said that the power-hungry group did not form an ‘alliance’ to serve the country, but rather their aim was to push Imran Khan out of the political landscape.
