In the opening match of the Champions Trophy, Pakistani bowlers once again scored runs in the last 10 overs against New Zealand.
In the match played at the National Stadium Karachi yesterday, New Zealand, batting first, had scored a mountain of 320 runs against Pakistan in the stipulated 50 overs, while chasing the target, the Green Shirts were all out for 260 runs in 47.2 overs.
In the initial power play and middle overs, the Pakistani bowling line had shown a brilliant game and the Kiwis scored 150 runs in 30 overs, while the next 10 overs, i.e. up to the 40th over, they scored 200 runs.
Later, between 40 and 50 overs, the Kiwi batsmen made a lot of trouble for the Pakistani bowlers and scored 113 runs against them for the loss of just one wicket (i.e. 11.03 runs per over).
During this time, poor fielding was also seen and many sure boundaries and catches were not caught, while due to the slow over rate, Pakistan also had to keep an extra fielder in the circle, which the Kiwi batters took advantage of and scored runs.
Haris Rauf took two wickets in his quota of 10 overs, but he also made the undesirable record of being Pakistan’s most expensive bowler by conceding the most runs, 83.
