Indian spinner Axar Patel missed out on a hat-trick in the Champions Trophy match against Bangladesh.
Captain Rohit Sharma apologized to the bowler for dropping the catch, Zakir Ali’s catch went to Rohit in the slip but the captain could not hold the ball.
In the match played at the Dubai International Stadium, the Bangladesh team was all out for 228 runs in 49.4 overs and India was given a target of 229 runs to win.
Half of the Bangladesh team returned to the pavilion for 35 runs, after which Tohid Reddy and Zakir Ali formed a brilliant partnership to pull the team out of trouble.
Tohid Reddy scored the first century of his ODI career and was dismissed for 100 runs, Zakir Ali played a responsible innings of 68 runs, Tanzeed Hasan scored 25 runs.
In the ninth over of the match, Axar Patel dismissed Tanzeed Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim on the second and third balls of his over and was about to take a hat-trick on the third ball.
The spinner bowled Zakir Ali and the catch went to slip to Rohit Sharma, who dropped it, due to which Axar Patel could not take a hat-trick.
After Rohit Sharma dropped the catch, Zakir Ali played a brilliant innings of 68 runs and played an important role in bringing the team’s total to 228 runs.
