Lahore: Tehreek-e-Insaf has been given permission to hold a rally in Lahore today, but the Punjab government and the police have also adopted a strategy regarding the rally, according to which special tasks have been assigned to the Rawalpindi police late at night.
According to police sources, the officers have been told that they will not be allowed to go from the city, cantt or rural areas to participate in the rally, but those who go individually will not be stopped.
Similarly, late at night, the police also started door knocking on the houses of leading leaders and workers of Tehreek-e-Insaf across the district in order to show alert. However, most of the leaders and workers have already managed to go underground.
The police officer, on the condition of anonymity, said that there are instructions from the top level that the mobilization to go to the rally and procession in the form of a rally should not be allowed, for which the main highways and entry and exit routes of the city will be closed from Saturday. But special police pickets will also be installed.
