Islamabad: The government has hinted at possible amendment to PECA Act after strong opposition from media organizations and the opposition.
Federal Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar, while talking to the media at the Parliament House, hinted at possible amendment to PECA Act and said that consultations with all stakeholders on PECA are still ongoing.
He said that consultations are being held on PECA between the Ministries of Interior, Information and Information Technology. The Federal Minister said that no law is permanent. It is the right of Parliament to amend any law at any time.
It should be noted that before and after the approval of the PECA Act, there has been strong protest and disagreement from journalist organizations and the opposition.
