Islamabad: Allies of the government also complained about not getting the draft of the constitutional amendment.
MQM Pakistan leader Dr. Farooq Sattar while speaking in the National Assembly said that if not the draft then the working paper should have been given in the special committee meeting. The opposition did not take us into confidence. As allies we also have concerns. Normally there is no meeting on a holiday. There is a legislative process.
Dr. Farooq Sattar said that the formation of the special committee was a good opportunity. The objectives of this meeting were clear that the constitutional amendment was being brought. The contents of the constitutional amendments have been leaked to the media. It has been decided that it will be brought on Sunday. If a special committee was formed, it should have brought a draft or working paper. PTI members also probably had no objection to some of the proposals.
He said that MQM and Maulana Fazlur Rahman warned you that this movement will eventually fall on you. MQM’s proposals should also be made part of the constitutional amendments. We are allies of PML-N but we have our own identity. We were not approached in this way in this whole matter. The opposition parties should also go along with it.
Dr Farooq Sattar further said that members of the judiciary also do not disagree with this amendment. The amendments to strengthen local governments of MQM should also be included in whatever amendments are being brought. Rana Sanaullah is a conciliator with us, but he has not contacted us even once. If we had seriously considered the issues, East Pakistan would never have been separated from us.
