A gas tanker explosion in Multan killed 6 people, while 31 were injured and burned, and several houses collapsed in the fire.
A gas tanker exploded in Fahad Town on Muzaffargarh Road in Multan. According to the administration, the driver had parked the tanker on the road and gone to meet relatives. The explosion occurred due to gas leakage.
After the explosion, fragments of the tanker landed in several nearby houses, which resulted in a fire in the houses and the roofs of several houses collapsed.
Rescue teams shifted the dead and injured to the burn unit of Nishtar Hospital. Among the injured are 6 people, including a woman and children from a house. The condition of 12 people is said to be critical.
According to Multan Commissioner Aamir Karim, more than 100 people have been pulled out alive from the rubble, and several animals were also killed and injured in the explosion.
The bowser explosion took place after 12 midnight. According to CPO Sadiq Ali Dogar, rescue teams cleared the area after putting out the fire.
According to rescue officials, the fire caused an explosion in the boiler, which sent pieces of the boiler flying into houses in Basti Hamidpur.
According to CPO Multan, 6 people from the same house were injured in Basti Hamidpur, while a woman died, identified as Zarina Bibi. The 6 injured people include 3 children and husband and wife, including Allah Rakha, his wife Tania, mother Mansab Bibi and children Anam, Anaya and Sanwal.
CPO Sadiq Dogar said that the teams will remain there until the area is completely cleared.
