Islamabad: PTI founder and Chief Minister Gandapur have different views on talks with the PML-N government, and the former prime minister is not particularly optimistic about the success of the talks.
While Gandapur believes that the federal government will contact him for talks on Saturday.
PTI sources told The Express Tribune that the PTI founder has instructed Chief Minister Gandapur to wait for the PML-N government’s response by Saturday and has said that if there is no positive response, the party should start implementing the civil disobedience movement plan.
Sources said that a meeting between Gandapur and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on the Kurram tragedy is expected soon, in which political issues are also likely to be discussed. This meeting is expected today.
PML-N sources confirmed the proposed meeting to be held today and said that the meeting can be extended by a day.
PTI sources said that during the meeting at Adiala Jail, the PTI founder, Gandapur and other party leaders discussed the possible talks and the progress made so far. The PTI founder expressed doubts about the success of the talks, while Gandapur appeared optimistic.
The founder made it clear that he was in favor of talks, but for this the government should demonstrate political determination. If the government tries to convince the PTI to talk by Saturday, then go ahead, otherwise call for civil disobedience.
He stressed that we do not need such talks in which the government gives the impression that the PTI is begging for talks.
