Paris: French President Emmanuel Macron has called for an end to the supply of weapons to Israel for use in Gaza, saying that it is necessary for a political solution, while Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu has strongly criticized in response and Called it an insult.
According to the Reuters news agency, French President Emmanuel Macron said that the process of providing weapons to Israel for use in the Gaza conflict will be stopped so that broad efforts to find a political solution to the problem are possible.
In an interview with France Radio, Macron said that the first priority is to find a political solution to the problem and for this to stop the supply of weapons to fight in Gaza and that France does not send any weapons.
He said that our priority at the moment is to stop the tension, the Lebanese people should not be sacrificed and Lebanon cannot become another Gaza.
Macron’s statement comes as his foreign minister, Jean-Noël Barot, is on a four-day trip to the Middle East as Paris tries to play a role in reviving diplomatic efforts.
The French Ministry of Defense’s annual report on arms exports states that France is not one of the major arms suppliers to Israel, but last year, $33 million worth of military equipment was sold.
On the other hand, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responded by addressing other Western leaders, including Macron, who demanded to stop the supply of arms to Israel, and said that they should be ashamed.
The Israeli Prime Minister said that with his support or not, Israel will win this war and banning arms sales is an insult to us.
