The team investigating former South Korean President Yoon Suk-yol has requested an arrest warrant.
According to foreign media, a statement issued by the Joint Investigation Headquarters, the agency investigating ousted South Korean President Yoon Suk-yol, said that it has requested an arrest warrant for former President Yoon Suk-yol over the short-term imposition of martial law in the country.
The joint investigation team, consisting of corruption investigation officers, police and senior officials from the Ministry of Defense, said that the former president ignored notices issued to appear before the team for investigation and did not appear.
The court will decide whether to issue an arrest warrant for former President Yoon Suk-yol. If an arrest warrant is issued for Yoon Suk-yol, he will become the first South Korean president to be arrested. President Yoon had imposed martial law in the country for a short period of time, against which millions of people took to the streets, forcing the president to withdraw the decision to impose martial law. President Yoon was removed from office through an impeachment motion.
