Chief Minister of Punjab Maryam Nawaz has decided to run special buses for rural women.
For the first time in the country’s history, the Punjab government has agreed to start a bus service from every tehsil to the district headquarters for rural women.
The Chief Minister of Punjab has also sought an inter-village transport plan, and a proposal to start a mass transit system consisting of 25 buses in phases in remote districts was reviewed.
The Chief Minister has sought a comprehensive plan for the transportation of rural women, and instructions have also been given to provide subsidy to female passengers in the mass transit system.
On the instructions of the Chief Minister, Punjab’s first Women Transport Solution Plan will be prepared. Chief Minister of Punjab Maryam Nawaz said that modern transport system is also the right of women living in villages, and the lack of a transport system is extremely painful for rural women.
The provision of a modern transport system will increase the confidence of rural women, and this will facilitate the movement of female students and female patients. He said that it is extremely sad to see rural women traveling in public transport in uncomfortable conditions.
