Islamabad: The federal government has directed the provincial governments to take action against such dealers who are not passing on the full impact of the reduction in petroleum product prices to the consumers.
It should be noted that due to the inattention of the provincial governments, the full benefit of the reduction in petroleum product prices is not reaching the consumers, but now the federal government has decided to pay attention to this issue and has asked the provincial governments to take strict action against such elements.
This decision was taken in the recent meeting of the National Price Monitoring Committee. The Secretary of the Ministry of Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives, referring to these decisions, said that the provincial governments should implement the decisions taken in the NPMC meeting to provide relief to the people.
He said that according to the decision, all provincial governments will prepare a report on the steps taken to provide the benefit of the reduction in petroleum product prices to the people and will also share the reports.
It should be noted that despite the continuous decline in the prices of petroleum products, the prices of 18 food items, including pulses, have increased, while the prices of 10 items have decreased. The prices of garlic, ghee, potatoes, onions, sugar and cooking oil have increased, which is being controlled at a high level.
In the recent meeting, it was also decided that the Ministry of National Food Security and Research will present its own presentation on the issue of pulses in the next meeting.
The Punjab government will soon present the strategy to deal with the decline in pulse production and its implementation, while the State Bank will also present its detailed report in this regard.
