ISLAMABAD: On the issue of tax collection from traders, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) is ready to make changes in the tax scheme as per the wishes of the traders.
According to FBR sources, if the traders are ready, the amendment note may be issued immediately, the amendment to exempt small traders from tax is included in the draft.
Income tax return form will be issued in simple and easy Urdu language, it is proposed not to apply sales tax on annual turnover of Rs.10 crores.
Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s coordinator Rana Ehsan Afzal said that the federal government will not come under the pressure of traders in any case, retailers will have to come in the tax net anyway.
In the statement issued in this regard, Ehsan Afzal said that we will not run away from negotiations but we will not come under the pressure of businessmen and if businessmen think we are doing wrong, we can sit again.
He further said that the Prime Minister has to reorganize the FBR, the retail sector has to come in the tax net.
It should be noted that a shutter down strike is being conducted across the country today by traders and Jamaat-e-Islami against taxes and inflation.
