Karachi: Renowned actress and model Amna Ilyas spoke openly about the effects of her father’s absence in a recent interview.
Speaking on Wasim Shah’s show Zawarat, Amna said that her father passed away 20 years ago, after which her mother bravely raised her children.
Amna said emotionally: “My mother was only 30 to 35 years old at that time, and she took care of all of us with great courage. But as I grew up, I realized how important it is for children to have a father.”
Amna revealed that she missed her father deeply during her teenage years. She said, “We were four sisters, a brother and a mother, but there was no male role in the house. When a difficult time came or someone bothered us, we did not know who to talk to. This lack is still felt.”
She recalled a memorable moment of her father’s death: “When my father died, someone took pictures of his funeral. I was only 5 or 6 years old at the time and I was smiling in those pictures because I didn’t understand what was happening.”
The actress praised her mother, saying: “Our mother never made us feel like we were lacking anything. We used to get as much money as our father did, and even more. But some things can never be replaced.”
Amna concluded her conversation with these words: “If my father were alive today, life would be very different. I miss him a lot and I always will.”
