At a summit held in Britain to express solidarity with Ukraine, European leaders have agreed that military aid will continue to be provided to Ukraine as long as the war continues and economic pressure will be increased on Russia.
According to a foreign news agency, after the tension between US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, the meeting was hosted by British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, in which the heads of Canada, France, Germany, Italy and other European countries, the Secretary General of NATO, the Presidents of the European Commission and the European Council participated. The meeting discussed efforts to end the Russia-Ukraine war and European defense.
According to foreign media, British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer said in a press briefing after the meeting that the participants had agreed on four important points:
Military aid to Ukraine will continue as long as the war continues.
Economic pressure will be increased on Russia.
Ukraine’s involvement in any peace talks will be essential.
In the event of a peace agreement, steps will be taken to prevent future Russian aggression.
Sir Keir Starmer added that ensuring Ukraine’s security and sovereignty is essential for lasting peace. He announced that the British government would provide Ukraine with 1.6 billion pounds under UK Export Finance, which would enable Ukraine to purchase more than 5,000 air defense missiles. These missiles will be manufactured in Belfast, which will create jobs in the UK defense sector.
According to a foreign news agency, the British Prime Minister emphasized that Europe and the United States must stand together and that it is essential for Europe’s security that this continent works together with the United States.
He said that Britain, France and other countries have agreed to work with Ukraine on a plan to stop the war and that this plan will be discussed with the United States to move it forward.
