Indian Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh is facing legal action once again after his Ludhiana concert for allegedly singing a song that incites alcohol consumption.
According to Indian media, famous singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh’s New Year’s Eve concert in Ludhiana has become embroiled in a legal dispute following a complaint filed by Pandit Rao Dhrivanar, an assistant professor from Chandigarh.
The complaint against the singer prompted the Punjab government’s deputy director to issue a formal notice to the Ludhiana district commissioner, urging him to stop the singer from performing certain songs during his live show on December 31, 2024.
The notice specifically demanded a ban on songs that hint at promoting alcohol consumption such as ‘Patiala Pag’, ‘5 Tara Theke’, and ‘Kes’, etc., which have become controversial.
The notice cites prior warnings issued to Diljit Dosanjh by various commissions, where he was prohibited from singing these controversial songs. However, despite these warnings, the singer allegedly continued to perform them with minor changes to the lyrics on New Year’s Eve last night.
