The federal government has decided the development funds strategy for the budget of the next fiscal year 2025-26.
According to sources, under the government’s development funds strategy for the budget of the next fiscal year, it has been declared a priority to complete up to 80 percent of the ongoing projects in the new PSDP. This year, the volume of roll-forward projects has reached Rs 10,000 billion. Projects equivalent to 10 times the cost of the current year’s development budget are pending. The federal government will not allocate funds for provincial projects next year, only funds will be kept for less developed districts approved by the National Economic Council.
No money will be allocated next year for projects that have received full funds this year. Along with increasing exports and production, projects to build digital infrastructure have also been declared a priority. Projects according to the vision of Udan Pakistan will be given priority next year. Funds will be set aside for business innovation and research and development projects. The Ministry of Planning has sought PC-1s of new projects by March 31, 2025. An estimate of external funding for the next two years has also been sought from the Economic Affairs Division. An estimate of the development budget for the fiscal years 2026-27 and 2027-28 will also be prepared.
