KARACHI: Former Pakistani film star Afzal Khan popularly known as Rambo has complained that despite working in Pakistani showbiz for three decades, he has not yet received any award like Pride of Performance.
Recently, Rambo along with his wife and former film actress Sahiba participated in the morning show of a private TV channel as a guest where they talked about their personal life as well as their showbiz career.
Talking about the awards given to Pakistani artists, Rambo said that in the past there was only one award show, in the same show all actors, films and dramas got awards, but now every TV channel has its own award shows. Which is wrong.
The actor suggested that a single award show should be organized for the entire Pakistani showbiz industry, then films, dramas from all TV channels should be brought together and awards given in each category.
He said that in the past I have been honored with other film awards including Nigar, but I doubt that I have been in showbiz for 32 years and during that time, I have done 200 films but still I have not received the award. There was no such award as Pride of Performance.
Rambo said that in today’s age, awards are also given by salam dua and I don’t want any award that comes with someone’s recommendation or salam dua.
The actor said that one feels proud only by receiving an award on merit, receiving a recommendation award does not give heartfelt happiness.
He appealed to the awardees with folded hands and said that after seeing this interview of mine, don’t give me an award, I don’t want such an award.
Rambo added that when even my mother-in-law, Nashu Begum, has not received any presidential award yet, then why should I complain?
