Islamabad: The government has decided to bring back the Pakistani prisoners stuck in Sri Lanka in 7 days.
The High Commissioner of Sri Lanka, Admiral (Rtd) Ravindra Chandra Srivijay Gunaratne, has met the Federal Minister of Interior and Anti-Narcotics, Mohsin Naqvi, in which matters of mutual interest and the release of Pakistani citizens imprisoned in Sri Lanka were discussed.
In the meeting, it was decided to bring the Pakistani prisoners stuck in Sri Lanka back to Pakistan in 7 days. In this regard, it was agreed to complete the necessary action from both sides for the return of Pakistani prisoners in Sri Lanka. The Sri Lankan High Commissioner has assured all possible support for the release of Pakistani prisoners.
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi thanked the Sri Lankan High Commissioner for his support for the repatriation of the prisoners. He said that all measures are being finalized as soon as possible for the repatriation of Pakistani citizens imprisoned in Sri Lanka.
Anti-narcotics and border security issues were also discussed in the meeting. Mohsin Naqvi said that relations between Sri Lanka and Pakistan have strengthened over time. There is a need to take swift steps to further develop mutual relations. Promoting cooperation in counter-narcotics and border security is the need of the hour.
The Sri Lankan High Commissioner said that Sri Lanka attaches great importance to its relations with Pakistan.
