Islamabad: The Election Commission has reserved its decision on the requests of Tehreek-e-Insaaf to keep the case pending till the clarification of jurisdiction and Supreme Court.
The PTI intra-party election case was heard in the Election Commission. On behalf of Tehreek-e-Insaf, new lawyer Uzair Bhandari appeared.
Lawyer Uzair Bhandari argued that we have filed four applications, FIA had raided and seized all our records, we do not have original documents and electronic records.
Barrister Gohar said that you have seen the video. They also took our water dispenser.
Lawyer Uzair Bhandari said that if the Election Commission directs, the record can be obtained from the FIA. In the short order related to specific seats, the Supreme Court declared that Tehreek-e-Insaf was and is a political party.
Member KP said that we did not say that Tehreek-e-Insaaf is not a registered political party.
Lawyer Uzair Bhandari said that if we wait for the detailed decision of the Supreme Court, it will be clarified. The Election Commission has sought an explanation from the Supreme Court regarding specific seats. There is no administrative structure, we do not accept the Election Commission.
Member KP said that we have not made any request in the Supreme Court regarding the new intra-party elections of Tehreek-e-Insaf. We have asked the Supreme Court that whose party certificates should be recognized until the intra-party elections are recognized.
Barrister Gauhar said that I also issued certificates to the 39 members whom you recognized as PTI. Member KP said that we did not accept the certificates of 39 members because of your signature, we did it on the order of the Supreme Court.
Lawyer Uzair Bhandari said that the Election Commission should decide the jurisdiction first.
DG Law argued that the Supreme Court in its short order had said that party certificates of only 41 independent members should be submitted, the Supreme Court had not mentioned any specific party, an independent member can join any political party. Perhaps, the Election Commission has asked the Supreme Court to clarify whose certificate should be accepted for joining the PTI of 41 members?
The Election Commission adjourned the hearing of the case till September 18, reserving its decision on the requests of Tehreek-e-Insaaf to keep the case pending till the clarification of the jurisdiction and the Supreme Court.
