Colombo: A curfew has been imposed across the country after the voting for the presidential elections in the Sri Lankan Peninsula has been completed.
According to the government officials, the polling process was peaceful across the country, curfew was imposed to ensure the safety of the people.
A spokesperson of the Police Media Division said that the curfew will remain in force till 6 am today, except for the personnel of the mandatory services departments.
After the implementation of the curfew, security officials are patrolling the streets of Colombo while check posts have also been set up in different areas.
People returning from overseas travel have also been advised to use their air tickets and other travel documents as curfew passes.
