Lahore: Muslim League-N, People’s Party and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) have agreed on the draft of the 26th constitutional amendment.
A meeting was held at the residence of PML-N President Nawaz Sharif by the heads of People’s Party, PML-N and JUI. In which the 26th constitutional amendment was consulted. Nawaz Sharif, President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Maulana Fazlur Rehman and Bilawal Bhutto were included in the meeting.
The leaders of the three parties agreed on the draft of the 26th constitutional amendment. According to sources, Maulana Fazlur Rahman had a consultation with the PML-N delegation for more than an hour.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, JUI chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that a consensus has been reached on reforms related to the judiciary. And will also consult on other proposed amendments. It rejected the original amendment and still rejects it today.
He said that JUI held negotiations with the government parties. And if important issues are discussed in detail, the country will survive and the constitution will also survive.
Maulana Fazlur Rahman said that he will meet the leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) after reaching Islamabad. And will also include them in the constitutional amendment.
Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto said that an agreement had already been reached between PPP and JUI. However, now the three parties have agreed on the 26th constitutional amendment. They want the supremacy of the constitution and quick justice through the constitutional courts.
He said that after the reforms, people will see what they do to defend the constitution. In due course the proposed amendment will be passed by both houses.
Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar said that an agreement has been reached between the three parties regarding the judiciary. And soon other proposed amendments will also be agreed upon.
