Punjabi Culture Day

CM Maryam Nawaz launches a three-day Punjabi Culture Day in Lahore, celebrating Punjab’s rich heritage, music, language and traditions.

Joyful Beginning to the Festival:

Traditional music, vibrant decorations, and bold displays of cultural identity were all part of Punjabi Culture Day’s big inauguration. Folk dances, women dressed in traditional Punjabi attire, and men wearing vibrant turbans added excitement and vitality to the occasion.

CM Maryam Nawaz said during the inaugural ceremony that she has a strong bond with Punjab, its people, and their customs. Punjab is a province full of beauty, love, and pride, she remarked, and it’s time for everyone to respect their language and traditions.

Punjab Rising:

In her speech, CM Maryam mentioned how Pakistan was once facing economic darkness. She recalled a time when people feared that the country might go bankrupt. But today, the Pakistan Stock Exchange is reaching new heights, showing that change is possible.

She proudly shared that this improvement is because of wise decisions and honest leadership. The resources are the same. She said, “But a patriotic leadership that cares for the people has put us back on the path of progress.”

Leader Who Feels the People’s Pain:

One of the most touching moments of her speech was when CM Maryam said,

“When I think about how difficult it is to run a kitchen for 150 million people, I cannot sleep at night.”

This emotional statement showed that she truly understands the struggles of ordinary citizens. She added that she works day and night so that every person in Punjab can sleep peacefully after eating two meals a day. Her words won the hearts of many who have long waited for a leader who cares about their everyday struggles.

Deep Love for Punjabi Culture:

According to CM Maryam, she has always enjoyed Punjabi dramas and songs. She shared that Arif Lohar’s famous song “Ik Phul Motiye Da” is her favourite, and she has loved listening to Punjabi music since childhood. This personal touch added warmth to her message and made people feel connected. She recalled her stay in Saudi Arabia and how much she missed Punjab during that time. She said the smell of the earth after rain in Punjab is something that touches the heart and reminds her of home.

Cultural Revival:

Following a 30-year hiatus, Maryam Nawaz also commemorated the reopening of the Horse and Cattle Show and Mela Chiraghan. Thousands of people came together to celebrate community, food, animals, and culture at these events. She thanked everyone who helped make these activities successful and expressed gratitude for the enormous turnout. These performances served as a potent reminder that Punjabi customs endure and have the power to unite people.

Respect for Parents and Values:

While talking about values, CM Maryam highlighted the importance of respecting parents. She said,

“Those who honour their parents are rewarded by Allah.”

She proudly mentioned her father, Nawaz Sharif, who became Prime Minister three times, and said his success came from his love and respect for his parents. Her words sent a powerful message to the youth that respecting elders is not just a part of our culture but also a way to succeed in life.

Promoting Artists and Cultural Figures:

CM Maryam Nawaz also praised Azma Bokhari’s work for promoting Punjabi arts and announced that she will soon hold a special meeting with artists. She said that artists are the true face of any culture, and it is time we give them the attention, respect, and opportunities they deserve.

She expressed a strong commitment to promoting Punjabi theatre, music, and literature, adding that the government will soon create more platforms for local artists to showcase their talent.

Punjabi Language:

Speaking both in Punjabi and Urdu, Maryam Nawaz reminded everyone that there is no shame in speaking your native language. Just like the Turkish people take pride in their language, so should the people of Punjab. She said,

“We should keep our traditions and culture alive. This is our identity.”

This message was well received by many, especially the youth, who are now encouraged to learn and use Punjabi more in their daily lives.

Culture for Unity and Growth:

Culture encompasses more than just attire, cuisine, and music. It is a society’s lifeblood. CM Maryam has demonstrated through this occasion that a country grows stronger when it embraces its heritage. Punjabi Culture Day is a celebration of pride, harmony, and peace rather than just having fun. By promoting regional customs, Punjab is also boosting tourism, generating employment, and giving young people a sense of pride in their identity. As a reminder that tradition and progress can coexist, this event has evolved into a link between the past and the future.

This three-day Punjabi Culture Day is only the beginning. CM Maryam Nawaz has announced that the government will continue to support such cultural festivals in every district of Punjab. Plans include:

  • Opening cultural centers in different cities.
  • Organising music and drama workshops for students.
  • Supporting local artists and craftsmen with funds and platforms.
  • Promoting Punjabi literature and poetry in schools and colleges.

These steps will help revive the soul of Punjab and ensure that its beautiful culture is passed on to the next generation.

Final Thoughts:

CM Maryam Nawaz has ushered in a new era of Punjabi history with this celebration, one that is full of togetherness, values, music, and colour. More than merely an occasion, Punjabi Culture Day represents a more prosperous, united, and proud Punjab.

Maryam Nawaz has demonstrated that effective leadership entails more than just following rules. it also entails relating to people’s emotions by honoring her heritage and her people. The message is clear as the dhols beat and the music plays throughout Lahore: Punjab is powerful, proud, and on the rise.
