After a poor performance in the ICC Champions Trophy and being eliminated in the first round, the brand value of the national team is likely to suffer a major blow.
Indian media has quoted a Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) official in its reports as saying that bringing spectators to the field is a difficult goal due to the home side’s exclusion from the Champions Trophy.
The report quotes the official as saying that there will be several major problems, including ticket sales, because the fans’ interest has lost due to the home side’s exclusion from the tournament. Despite the cricket craze, it will not be easy to sell Pakistan cricket as a brand in the future.
The report, citing sources, claims that due to hosting the ICC event, Chairman PCB Mohsin Naqvi did not pay attention to the Champions Trophy team and Pakistan was eliminated from the event.
The report further stated that the Pakistan cricket team’s brand value has suffered a major blow after being eliminated in the first round, the impact of which could also be seen in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) as the interest of fans, sponsors, advertisers, and broadcasters will decrease.
