Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) sources say that no hybrid model is being considered for the ICC Champions Trophy.
Sources say that the Board of India (BCCI) is spreading false news about the Champions Trophy through its media, in which it is being said that Pakistan has agreed to a hybrid model to host the ICC event.
Earlier, the Indian Board has been prohibiting Pakistan from coming to play on the pretext of political and security concerns, while the Asia Cup 2022 was conducted under a hybrid model in which the Indian team played its matches at the second location.
On the other hand, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is upgrading the stadium to host the mega event so that fans can get better arrangements and better viewing opportunities before hosting the tournament.
It is noteworthy that a delegation of the International Cricket Council (ICC) will visit Lahore from November 10 to 12 to review Pakistan’s preparations for the tournament. An official event is expected on November 11, during which the tournament schedule and key details are likely to be revealed.
According to reports, the preliminary schedule has already been finalized with the board of participating teams in the event, whereby Pakistan will be in Group A with India, Bangladesh and New Zealand, while Group B includes England, South Africa, Australia and Afghanistan.
The Champions Trophy is scheduled from February 19 to March 9, 2025, with matches to be played in Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi.
