Karachi: An ICC delegation visited Gaddafi Stadium to review the arrangements for the preparations for the Champions Trophy. The delegation included representatives from various departments including ICC logistics and media. ICC officials visited different parts of the stadium and saw the available facilities and also shared their suggestions with PCB officials.
Some people from the ICC delegation will now stay in Pakistan, the process of selling Champions Trophy tickets will also be finalized next week, and the regular ICC secretariat will also start working in Lahore in the third week of January. The ICC delegation also visited Karachi and Pindi stadiums before this.
Earlier, Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi made a surprise visit to the Gaddafi Stadium and reviewed the progress of the construction work. He directed that the finishing work of the main building be completed as soon as possible. Mohsin Naqvi further directed that the drainage work be completed within the stipulated time.
According to the PCB announcement, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi expressed satisfaction over the progress made on the project and expressed confidence in the completion of the Gaddafi Stadium equipped with modern facilities this month.
Mohsin Naqvi said that the reconstruction work of the stadium for the Champions Trophy tournament is going on rapidly, new chairs and new LED lights are being installed for cricket fans, fans will also be able to enjoy a laser light show along with the match, work on installing new score screens is also underway, PCB is ready to make the Champions Trophy a memorable event.
