Former national team captain Rashid Latif advised the Pakistan cricket team to shift focus from India.
In an interview given to local media, former captain Rashid Latif said that the Green Shirts should focus on the event held in their country after 28 years, they should forget what the Indian team is doing, but they should look for ways to take advantage of their home conditions.
He said that Pakistan will enter the event as the defending champions, the Green Shirts should play attacking cricket, we have bowlers like Abrar Ahmed, Sufyan Muqeem, Usama Mir available in the form of spinners for home conditions.
Similarly, Fakhar, Shan Masood, Saim Ayub and Abdullah Shafiq are supported in batting, but in the absence of the young opener, I think I should go with Shan.
Rashid Latif said that all the players are talented, finding the right combination can be a challenge. I am not sure what the selectors are thinking but maybe they will choose Fakhar and Shan Masood as the opening pair, we will have to wait and see.
The former captain also described England, New Zealand, Australia and South Africa as strong teams apart from Pakistan and India, saying that these four teams can be a big challenge for both the Asian teams.
The opening match of the Champions Trophy will be played between Pakistan and New Zealand in Karachi on February 19, while the arch-rivals Pakistan and India will face each other in Dubai on February 23.
