Karachi: PCB will get big income from Champions Trophy matches in UAE too, Pakistan is to get more than half of the money earned from ticket sales, a written agreement will be signed soon in this regard.
According to the details, the Champions Trophy will be held from February 19 to March 9, the matches of the Indian cricket team, which has refused to tour Pakistan, are to be held in Dubai, if the Blue Shirts reach the final, then 5 matches, if they are limited to the semi-finals, then 4, while if they are only eliminated in the first round, then 3 matches will be held in the UAE.
These include the blockbuster match between Pakistan and India on February 23, the PCB had assigned the hosting of this competition to Gaddafi Stadium Lahore in the initial schedule.
The authorities had hoped that the venue would be fully packed with spectators, however, the Indian board scrapped the entire plan citing lack of permission from the government, but Pakistan will also earn a lot of income from the matches in the UAE.
A senior PCB official told the correspondent of “Express” that more than half of the money earned from ticket sales will go to Pakistan.
The issues in this regard have been agreed upon and a written agreement will be signed with the Emirates Cricket Board soon. The Dubai Cricket Stadium has a capacity of more than 25,000 spectators. In the past, there was no place for a sit-in during Pakistan-India matches.
This is still a possibility. Along with Pakistanis and Indians living in the UAE, a large number of spectators from other countries will also come to Dubai. A large number of fans will also attend other matches of the Indian team.
According to sources, the ICC is likely to release the ticket prices and sales schedule soon. If the Indian team reaches the knockout matches, it will affect Pakistan’s revenue, especially since the final will not be held in Lahore, which will be disappointing for the fans.
