A colorful ceremony stage has been set before the cricket action in the Champions Trophy.
Important personalities and cricketers will be present at Lahore’s historic Huzuri Bagh, and a panel discussion of cricket legends will be held.
Renowned singer Atif Aslam will present the official anthem of the event at the ceremony, while the formal opening ceremony will be held on February 19 at the National Stadium Karachi, where Pakistan Air Force fighter jets JF-17 Thunder and F-16 will perform spectacular aerial stunts.
Pakistan has got the opportunity to host a major cricket tournament in the form of the ICC Champions Trophy after 29 years. The last time the World Cup was held here was in 1996, after which International Cricket Council events could not be held for years.
The terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team in Lahore on March 3, 2009, completed the gap. Now, after three decades, the Pakistan Cricket Board is fully prepared to host a major ICC event. However, in this event too, the Indian cricket team will play all its matches at neutral venues.
