The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has stepped up preparations for a massive shake-up in the players’ central contracts.
The board had selected 25 cricketers in 4 categories for the central contract for the year 2023-21, the contracts of these cricketers have expired on 30 June 2024.
According to media reports, the cricket board has not yet made any announcement regarding the central contract for 2024-25, which has created a stir among the players.
Reports are claiming that the Pakistan Cricket Board has started preparations for a massive overhaul of the new central contract.
The names of Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan and Shaheen Shah Afridi were included in the A category last year and there is no possibility of any major change this year as well.
Test team captain Shaan Masood besides Naseem Shah, Fakhar Zaman and Shadab Khan are included in the B category.
However, former Test captain, wicketkeeper Sarfaraz Ahmed and fast bowler Haris Rauf, who are part of the B category of the previous central contract, are less likely to stay in this place.
Abdullah Shafiq, Saeem Ayub, Saud Shakeel, Osama Mir and Mir Hamza are expected to join in the C category.
Before the ICC World Cup 2023, the concessions and financial benefits in the new central contract for the cricketers who submitted their demands to the then chairman PCB Zaka Ashraf are very unlikely to increase in the context of the previous contract and this is because of the previous contract.
