A new report has warned that cancer will account for 27% of premature deaths in the UK by 2050.
The current trajectory of cancer-related spending is unsustainable, with the research calling for massive investment in early cancer screening, diagnosis and treatment.
OECD member countries include the UK, Australia, the US, Japan and other European countries.
Another study has found that cancer deaths are rising in the UK. Some estimates suggest that the number will rise from more than 176,000 in 2023-2025 to 208,000 in 2038-2040.
In the latest study, OECD researchers said that despite advances, cancer remains a major health challenge and a leading cause of death for people in the UK.
The report added that by 2050, 27% of deaths among people under 75 will be due to cancer.
