LONDON: British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has said that he is ready to deploy British troops to Ukraine under a peace agreement to ensure Ukraine’s security.
The Prime Minister stressed that establishing a lasting peace in Ukraine is essential to deter Russian President Vladimir Putin from further aggression in the future.
Before an emergency summit with European leaders in Paris yesterday, Keir Starmer said that Britain is ready to deploy its troops to Ukraine if necessary.
He said that guaranteeing Ukraine’s security is essential not only for Ukraine but for the security of the whole of Europe.
According to foreign media reports, British troops could be deployed along with troops from other European countries on the border between the Ukrainian-occupied and Russian-occupied areas.
The Prime Minister added that the end of Russia’s war with Ukraine cannot be just a temporary pause, but rather a permanent solution is needed for Ukraine’s future security.
Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s announcement came after former British Army chief Lord Dent told the media that the British military had become so weak that it could not lead any future peacekeeping mission in Ukraine.
