London: The British Prime Minister rejected French President Emmanuel Macron’s demand to stop arms sales to Israel, saying that he will never impose this ban.
According to the international news agency, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer expressed these views while answering questions in the House of Commons and stated the policy of the newly elected Labor Party government regarding the supply of arms to Israel.
Prime Minister Keir Starmer further said that Israel has the right to defend itself and if it is not provided with weapons for defensive use, how will it counter Iran’s attacks.
The British Prime Minister said without naming any leader that on the one hand we recognize Israel’s right to defend itself and on the other hand we are depriving it of the means necessary for defense. This is a contradiction that I will not support.
It should be remembered that British Prime Minister Keir Starmer made this statement when French President Emmanuel Macron called on world powers to stop supplying Israel with arms and return to a “political solution” in the Middle East.
It should also be noted that the British government last month suspended 30 arms export licenses to Israel due to concerns that they could be used to violate international law, but retained 32 other licenses.
