Islamabad: Britain has announced plans to launch £108 million projects in Pakistan to take environmental protection measures. The ceremony to announce the new funding was attended by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and others.
According to a British Embassy spokesperson, the projects will benefit Pakistan and encourage investment in environmental technologies and private sector investment.
Recognizing the global threat posed by climate change, this first-of-its-kind program is being launched by the International Finance Corporation, UK Special Representative for Pakistan and Afghanistan, Hamish Faulkner, said that the UK and Pakistan have a long history of working together to address today’s threats.
We are working with the Government of Pakistan to support the Pakistani people and the world in addressing the challenges posed by climate change, investing in local businesses and expertise.
He said that the partnership between the UK and Pakistan is going from strength to strength and it is essential to address shared global challenges.
