Kashmir Files has become the most profitable film in the history of Bollywood which grossed massively.
Directed by Vivek Agnihotri, the film is said to be based on the theme of the exodus of Kashmiri Hindus in 1990 and made on a budget of only Rs 15-25 crore, the film grossed Rs 340.92 crore worldwide. That makes 1165% profit.
The film stars Mithan Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumar, and Pallavi Joshi in lead roles. Upon its release, the film received mixed reviews. While the film’s cinematography and actors’ performances were praised, it was also criticized for showing the story from a different historical perspective and allegedly promoting Islamophobia.
Kashmir Files won the Best National Integration Feature Film and Best Supporting Actress awards at the National Film Awards, while also receiving seven nominations at the Filmfare Awards, including Best Film, Best Director and Best Actor.
