WASHINGTON: Black women have a higher risk of dying from any type of breast cancer than white women, a new review suggests.
The researchers found that black women overall had a survival rate of 17 to 50 percent, depending on the type of breast cancer.
For example, findings show that black women are 34 to 50 percent more likely than white women to die from breast cancer caused by hormones like estrogen.
Meanwhile, researchers found that black women were 17 percent to 20 percent more likely to die from hormone-negative breast cancer.
