The Bangladesh cricket team suffered a major setback before the ICC Champions Trophy, as former captain and all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan also failed the second bowling action test.
Former Bangladesh captain and all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan’s bowling action was declared suspect during the English County Championship.
He was tested at Loughborough University in England last month and failed the test, as a result of which he was banned from bowling in domestic and international cricket.
However, Shakib Al Hasan gave his second bowling test in Chennai on December 21, the cricketer has failed to pass this test as well, due to which the all-rounder will be unable to bowl in the Champions Trophy event.
According to media reports, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirmed that Shakib Al Hasan failed the test and said that Shakib Al Hasan will remain eligible to play as a batter in domestic and international cricket.
After failing the bowling test, Shakib Al Hasan’s inclusion in Bangladesh’s Champions Trophy squad looks doubtful.
Bangladesh’s first match in the Champions Trophy is scheduled against India in Dubai on February 20, while all 8 teams participating in the event will have to submit their final squads by January 12.
