Rawalpindi: Unidentified persons opened fire on a school van in Dherikot village located at the foothills of Kala Chatta Pahar in the limits of Model Police Station Sadar Attock, resulting in the death of 2 children.
According to the rescue spokesperson, 5 children and the driver of the van were also injured in the firing.
According to the police, all the children are aged between 10 and 12 years, the unknown persons managed to escape from the spot.
Taking notice of the incident, IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar directed DPO Attock to reach the spot immediately. DPO Attock immediately formed police teams and cordoned off all the areas and started the search operation.
DPO Attock Sardar Ghiyas Gul says that according to the initial report, the accused attacked the van driver due to personal enmity, in which two female students were killed while 6 students including the driver were injured. Police forensic team is at the spot and evidence of the incident is being collected.
IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar asked RPO Rawalpindi for a report on the incident and said that the accused should be arrested as soon as possible while investigating every aspect of the incident. The IG Punjab directed the families of the victims to ensure immediate delivery of justice.
