London: Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir is in the UK on an official visit and will attend the 7th Regional Stabilization Conference being held at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.
According to the ISPR, he will deliver a keynote address on the theme “Emerging Global Order and the Future of Pakistan”.
The conference is held annually between Pakistan and the UK and provides an important platform to strengthen the relationship between the armies of the two countries.
It is attended by civil and military policymakers, as well as members of eminent think tanks.
In view of the changing geopolitical situation, this year’s conference is of exceptional importance for promoting bilateral cooperation and exchanging mutual perspectives.
Earlier on the first day of the visit, General Syed Asim Munir was accorded a grand welcome at the Royal Horse Guards Parade Ground where he was presented with a guard of honour.
During the visit, the Army Chief will hold important meetings with the civil and military leadership of the United Kingdom.
His engagements include meetings with the British Chief of the Defence Staff Admiral Tony Radicon, the Chief of the General Staff of the British Army General Sir Roland Walker and the National Security Advisor of the United Kingdom Jonathan Nicholas Powell.
The Army Chief will also meet the British Home Secretary Yvette Cooper. The meetings will be held to discuss mutual challenges and highlight the need for closer cooperation.
Pakistan and the United Kingdom have long-standing historical ties, which have strong ties in the diplomatic, economic and security sectors. There is close cooperation between the armies of the two countries, especially in the field of counter-terrorism and professional training.
During his visit, the Army Chief will also visit key units of the British Army, including the Land Warfare Centre and 1st Strike Brigade, where he will be briefed on the British Army’s modernisation efforts and operational strategies.
The visit highlights the strong ties between Pakistan and the UK and reaffirms the two countries’ shared commitment to regional stability and global peace.
