ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif while addressing the meeting after the approval of the 26th constitutional amendment by the Senate and the National Assembly by a two-thirds majority, said that the approval of the amendment is a wonderful example of national consensus.
He said that today the unfulfilled dream of the Charter of Democracy has come to fruition. Earlier, the elected Prime Ministers of the country were sent home, this will not happen now.
The Prime Minister said that today is a great day in the history of Pakistan, today it has been proved that the Parliament is great, democratic governments were abolished in the past, millions of people do not get justice.
Shahbaz Sharif said that after the amendments, it will be easy to get justice, today the parliamentarians have made such amendments in the constitution of Pakistan which will secure the future of the country, God willing.
Paying tribute to those who made the Charter of Democracy, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that Shaheed Benazir Bhutto and Quaid Muhammad Nawaz Sharif laid the foundation of the Charter of Democracy.
He said that Bilawal Bhutto worked sincerely on constitutional amendment.
The Prime Minister thanked Maulana Fazlur Rehman and said that Maulana not only negotiated in the best interest of Pakistan but also went ahead and presented his point of view.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that the message was sent to the entire country that the parties in the parliament sacrificed their personal interest for Pakistan, all the parties went ahead and passed the 26th amendment which will be a milestone in the history of Pakistan. .
