Anti-Narcotics Force Punjab held its annual drug burning ceremony at Sheikhupura Director General Anti-Narcotics Force, Major General Abdul Moeed Hilal e Imtiaz (Military) graced the event as the chief guest.A large number of civil and military officers, representatives of other law enforcement agencies, heads of universities and colleges, students, and members of NGOs attended the ceremony.The event commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran.

The Regional Directorate Commander of Anti-Narcotics Force Punjab welcomed the attendees in his opening remarks and highlighted the efforts and achievements of ANF Punjab in implementing the vision of a drug-free society.

This year, the Regional Directorate of Punjab has destroyed approximately 15 tons of narcotics, including heroin, hashish, ice, cocaine, ecstasy tablets, alcohol, and other precursor chemicals.Additionally, this year ANF Punjab has registered 511 cases against drug traffickers The Special Anti-Narcotics Court of Punjab sentenced 69 criminals to life imprisonment and handed down severe punishments to 238 other individualsThe purpose of this annual drug destruction event is to reaffirm ANF’s commitment towards drug prevention and curb spread of drugs in the society with support of masses. This menace can be controlled sooner, if members of civil society join forces with government institutions in this fight against drugsTowards conclusion of the ceremony, the chief guest, Director General of the Anti-Narcotics Force, Major General Abdul Moeed, HI (M) addressed the audienceIn his speech, he emphasized that despite having limited personnel and resources, the Anti-Narcotics Force continues its indiscriminate operations against those involved in the drug traffickingFurthermore, ANF is actively working to reduce drug use through awareness campaigns Since last September, ANF has been conducting a nationwide campaign to protect educational institutions from the scourge of drugs.

As part of this effort, awareness programs have already been held in over 100 universities, and an additional 150 institutions are expected to be covered by April 30, 2025Additionally, ANF is fully engaged in providing rehabilitation facilities for drug addicts to combat this menaceToday’s significant event is a part of this ongoing effort.The massive pile of narcotics displayed today is evident of the relentless efforts of Anti-Narcotics ForceThe drugs being burnt today are either intended for domestic consumption or smuggling out of the country.
