Washington: The United States has announced to send more troops to the Middle East amid rising tensions between Israel and Iran.
The US will send an additional fighter jet squadron, Navy cruisers and destroyers to the Middle East, the Pentagon said on Friday.
According to Reuters, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has approved the deployment of additional Navy cruisers and destroyers in Europe and the Middle East.
The Pentagon has also decided to send an additional fighter jet squadron to the Middle East.
In a statement, the Pentagon said that Austin had ordered a change in its military posture to increase Israel’s defenses and ensure the United States is ready to deal with any eventuality.
This announcement by the US has come after targeting high-profile figures of Hamas and Hezbollah.
The presence of the Israeli army is believed to be behind these actions and media reports are showing the fear of Iran’s possible retaliation after the martyrdom of Ismail Haniyeh, the head of the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas, on Iranian soil.
